What we collect, and what we don't.
Small Calm is a small publishing project about toddler tantrums and meltdowns, written for parents. This page is short because the site collects very little. Nothing here asks for your name, your child's name, or anything about your family.
On this site
There are no forms. You cannot type anything into smallcalm.com. Every button that asks for an email address sends you somewhere else first, and we say below who runs those places.
We count visits, not people. Two things measure this page, and both send to smallcalm.com's own address, so no analytics company's script loads while you read.
Ours is our own installation of Plausible, on hardware we operate. There are no cookies, no local storage, and no persistent identifier. What gets recorded is the page you opened, the site that linked you here, your country, and whether you are on a phone or a computer. Your IP address and browser string are not stored. They go into a daily code that is thrown away every 24 hours, which is what makes it impossible to follow you from one day to the next.
Cloudflare's comes with the hosting (/cdn-cgi/rum). It also
uses no cookies and no local storage, and Cloudflare
says publicly
it does not follow visitors over time by IP address or browser string. That is their word
about their own product, not something we checked. Cloudflare also keeps standard request
logs for security, and fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google sees the
request your browser makes for them.
When you leave this site
Several buttons hand you over to companies that have their own rules. Once you are there, their privacy policy applies, not ours:
- The scripts and the assistant. Both pages are hosted by MailerLite, which is where an email address is actually collected if you choose to give one. That is also who sends the emails and who handles unsubscribing.
- The AI assistant runs inside ChatGPT, so your conversation is with OpenAI under their terms. Please do not put your child's name or health details into it.
- The book links go to Amazon, where the purchase and any reading data belong to them.
Children
This site is written for parents and carers, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 13. Because there are no forms here, there is nothing for a child to fill in. If you believe a child has sent us information through one of the services above, write to us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. In practice the answer is usually that we hold nothing: apart from the security logs Cloudflare keeps, described above, the site stores no personal data, and the measurements cannot be traced back to a person. If you subscribed to something, the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email removes you straight away.
For anything else, write to alexandre@smallcalm.com. Residents of the EU, the UK, California, and Brazil have specific rights under GDPR, CCPA, and LGPD; the same address handles those requests.
Changes
If this changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it. The current version always lives at smallcalm.com/privacy.
